MONDAY, DECEMBER 21, at UVT: IMAGINE.SOUND.'89 Photography and multimedia: places of memory of the Revolution
Facebook.com
The conference IMAGINE.SUNET.'89 Photography and multimedia: places of memory of the Revolution does not aim to politicize recent history, nor is it a "revealer" of truths, like the solution used in the photographic film development technique.
The event presents personal histories remembered in the center of Europe (Petrea Lindenbauer), heard histories transformed into images (Bede Kincsö) or transmitted from the middle of events (Andrei Pandele). You will learn how the past can be revisited through theater/documentary film (Carmen-Lidia Vidu) and interdisciplinary filter (Florin Oprescu). All these are formulas to bring the '89 moment closer to us and to our understanding.
The conference takes place in the virtual space with the support of the Western University of Timișoara, the Faculty of Arts and Design and with the participation of the Institute of Romanian Studies at the University of Vienna.
We are waiting for you on Monday, December 21, 2020, at 18:00 LIVE on

LABOR MARKET - Legislative changes on technical unemployment, reduced working time (Kurzarbeit) and telework support
hotnews.ro
In the last few days, the Government and the Parliament took another step in the process of supporting the business environment in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, and issued a series of regulations to extend the granting of some aid in the field of labor relations during the next year as well and more flexibility for granting them.

The changes are, in general, auspicious, in the context in which it is expected that the state of alert will be maintained for a good period of time and in the following year, but additional formalities are also established, and the various normative acts also contain some inconsistencies that creates confusion and risk of non-uniform application by the authorities. We have summarized in this material the most important changes in the field of labor relations from the last week, in order to facilitate the interpretation of the new rules by employers.

Thus, on Monday, December 7, 2020, a new emergency Government Ordinance was published in the Official Gazette with no. 211/2020 (1), which regulates, in essence, the extension of the application of measures to support the business environment in terms of labor relations.

Shortly after, on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, Law no. 282/2020 for the approval of the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 132/2020 (2) by which changes are made regarding the mechanism for reducing the working time of employees (kurzarbeit), but also regarding telework aid. The law was published in the Official Gazette on December 9, 2020 and entered into force on December 12, 2020.

Wednesday, December 9, 2020, by Government Decision no. 1046/2020 (3), the applicability of the work time reduction measure regulated by GEO no. 132/2020 (kurzarbeit).

Superscript Awards #10: Trust is earned word by word
iqads.ro

After 9 editions in which it created a tradition of supporting narrative journalism and creative non-fiction writing in Romania, Superscrieri continues its mission even in times of crisis – that of creating a bridge between writers and readers. to Superscrieri Awards #10, as every year, the best journalistic materials of 2020 will be awarded, in the competition to which the authors are invited to register until January 17. The new president of the jury is Paul Radu (investigative journalist, director of OCCRP - Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project and founder of the RISE Project).

Superscrieri, a project of the Friends For Friends Foundation (FFFF.RO), is a festival of non-fiction stories, those stories that tell us who is lying and who is telling the truth. Non-fiction that changes the world. From these stories we have learned, in recent years, about the disinfectant crisis in hospitals, about how hard it will be for us in the next earthquake, about diploma factories, about the abuses of forests, from the political world or from the world of religious cults.

Give Overwrites it's not just a gala that has been encouraging these stories told by more than 10 award-winning authors for 100 years. It's an ecosystem to promote the truth through exceptional stories. And, which, like any project, met in 2020 with a world in stand-by.

"The 10th edition will be at the Athenaeum or it won't be at all - I said a few years ago, on the stage of the Superscrieri Gala. I had in mind that people who seek and uncover the truth deserve an evening of their own. On the country's biggest stage, at an anniversary edition. But today, in this stand-by world, more useful than an anniversary edition is to focus on the continuity of the project, on an edition of the Trust. In these times when we rely more than ever on the authors who reveal our reality, we propose that Superscrieri continues to strengthen for them as a small oasis of confidence in the work and efforts they make. And, together with these authors and their stories, let's also demonstrate for readers a project tool that facilitates your orientation to the truth, with more critical thinking, in today's world. Because we are all - authors, readers or even sources - faces of the same story, each with a role in building trust.

So in the difficult year 2020, when nothing brave can be planned, we will not hold a 10th anniversary edition, but a simple Trust-building edition. We hope that we can take proper care of issue #11 and celebrate then, truly together, all those years of powerful stories about truth.”, motivated FFFF running the current edition.

Along with Paul Radu (president of the jury), among the other jurors confirmed at this moment, who join to evaluate the entries, are: Alice Iacobescu (new in this jury), Emilia Șercan, Irina Păcurariu, Florin Negruțiu, Dan Duca, Oana Giurgiu , Mona Dîrțu, Marius Comper, Robert Schwartz, Paula Herlo, Vlad Stoicescu, Ioana Moldovan, Ioana Cîrlig.

"2020 was a test year for honest journalism, done in the public interest. People needed clear information, text, image, investigation and innovation to help them make decisions. Superscripts X is about the struggle of honest reporters who try to earn the trust of the public through hard and risky work. It's about journalism as a way of life fueled by an audience that senses when its interest is put above all else.", declare Paul Radu, director of OCCRP, president of the Superscrieri jury.

EU - Harsh criticism of the European Commission for Romania's PNRR plan for spending the 30 billion from the EU intended for economic recovery: zero reforms assumed
g4media.ro

The European Commission harshly criticized the document proposed by the Orban government for attracting the 30 billion euros from the EU for the economic recovery, political sources told G4Media.ro. The commission reproached the government that the National Recovery and Resilience Program (PNRR) does not foresee any serious reform in areas such as digitization, environmental protection, economic sustainability or education. The European Commission's objections came during the technical discussions with the Romanian side, given that there is no formal position at this moment, the proposal not yet being officially sent to Brussels.

The Orban government began negotiating the program in the midst of the election campaign, using it domestically to promote promised infrastructure investments. The PNRR aims to spend the 30 billion euros from the NextGeneration EU program, money that represents both non-refundable grants and extremely low interest loans.

PNRR lists hundreds of road projects, highways, afforestation and drainage plans, metro in Bucharest and Cluj, 7 regional warehouses for drug stocks, 100 new fire brigade subunits, 3 new hospitals, investments in the energy transport network, networks of gas, water and sewage networks, irrigation. The program does not foresee any substantial reform in the areas of digital, climate change, education and macroeconomic balance, according to Brussels.

However, the European Commission explicitly requested in the official criteria for granting these amounts that the member states present for financing projects that respect these reforms as a matter of priority.

The final decision of the European Commission regarding the approval of the national plans will be taken in April 2021, and until then negotiations are taking place with each individual member state. The European Commission asked the government to restore the original program, but at the moment there is a deadlock because Romania has an interim government, and the formation of the new governing coalition is not completed.
