DOCUMENT Government Program on Education: 6% of GDP until 2024, differentiated BAC, generalization of the "hot meal at school" and "school after school" programs, expansion of the teaching master's degree, but maintaining the DPPDs
edupedu.ro

Gradual funding up to 6% of GDP until 2024, the reform of the teaching career without anything clear and the generalization of the "hot meal at school" and "school after school" programs - these are some of the measures proposed in the Government Program, Education chapter, of the government PNL-USR-PLUS-UDMR.

The introduction of the differentiated baccalaureate is another proposal from the document, but without being accompanied by any other clarification, in the context in which even now the BAC is differentiated, and the education law also provides for another type of differentiation for 9 years, which is extended but permanently.

The cabinet formed by the proposed prime minister, Florin Cîțu, submitted the list of ministers and the government program to Parliament this morning. Also today vpr had hearings in commissions, and by tonight we could already have a government in place.

For Education, the proposed minister is Sorin Cîmpeanu.

STUDENT VOICES - Antonia Pup: Reform or survival? The hard legacy from Education
adevarul.ro

Reform or survival? The difficult legacy of Education that we should reflect more on - for now, we only reflect on stories that will not keep us warm in this long, frosty and uncertain winter for any student, teacher or teaching staff.

The difficult legacy can only now be glimpsed, and the proposed Minister of Education, Sorin Cîmpeanu, did not accept the position (not a comfortable one, a position which for characters like Raluca Turcan would have represented political suicide) to be laughed at, especially taking into account the fact that a committee set up with dedication was waiting for him at the Senate, a lukewarm committee and without too many hassles.

The funny people of the day are those who lived - until yesterday - with the conviction that the architect (Pro) of Educated Romania, Klaus Iohannis, will appoint a new, spotless man (I don't think such politicians exist), those who saw it coming, with Sorin Cîmpeanu being the PNL's main communicator on Education. These things were known, and out of naive utilitarianism, no one said anything. As the party members state, this Government has a well-determined life expectancy (perhaps not even a year), so the reform will not only not exist, but I don't think it was in the plan either. It is absolutely childish, from my point of view, to think that this Government will be capable of any reform. The coalition barely has the legitimacy to enter the doors of the ministries, with 30% voting attendance in total. It is not the time for reforms, it is time to accept that the feasible horizon is the one through which we could keep our heads above the surface. And that's not safe either, with 1 million kids who have lost over 300 hours of school since the schools were closed and (programmatically) 5% of GDP lost for every month we closed the closed schools. I have read the Education Governance Program of the PNL and appreciate the following provisions as a greeting:

LABOR MARKET - BestJobs survey: 3 out of 5 employees expect to receive a bonus or Christmas gift this year
iqads.ro

After a difficult year and which brought unprecedented challenges in the labor market, most Romanian employees remain optimistic at the end of the year and hope to receive, on the occasion of the winter holidays, a bonus or a symbolic gift from the employer, shows a survey carried out by the recruitment platform BestJobs.

Almost 20% of employees who responded to the BestJobs survey expect a Christmas bonus, while just over 40% hope for at least a token gift from their employer during the holidays. Whether we are talking about money or gifts, almost three quarters of respondents are convinced that their value will not be higher than last year.

More precisely, almost 30% of employees expect the gift budget to be below 400 lei this year, a little over 17% believe that the value of the bonus or Christmas gift received from the company will be up to 1.000 lei and only 5% waiting to be rewarded by the employer with an amount greater than 1000 lei.

When it comes to the gifts they plan to give their loved ones for the holidays, just over 25% of respondents to the BestJobs survey will allocate between 100 and 300 lei this year, 14% plan to spend up to 500 lei, and 13% have a gift budget of less than 100 lei for Christmas and New Year's Eve.

This year, more than 70% of respondents say they will also spend Christmas and New Year's Eve at home with their family.

Looking back at the year ending, Romanian employees believe that 2020 was full of challenges from a professional point of view, with a lot of effort and stress, and more than 26% of the employees who participated in the BestJobs survey say that their CV on BestJobs is updated and they are actively looking for a new job for 2021.

The survey was conducted between December 5-18, 2020, on a sample of 1.211 internet users from Romania.

Books Worth Giving as Christmas Gifts Romanians Prefer Autographed Books
Books that deserve to be given as Christmas gifts. Romanians prefer autographed books
newspapers.com

The most recent research published at the beginning of December by the National Institute for Cultural Research and Training (INCFC) shows that, at the national level, 35% of Romanians declared that they had read in the last months, an increase of 6 percent compared to 2019 Finally, a gratifying statistic, considering that Romanians have always been at the bottom of the rankings of those interested in reading at the European level and beyond. So, in this context, when we spend even more time at home, a book can be a great gift idea for Christmas, but not only.

The increased appetite of Romanians for reading was also seen in book sales. Although many bookstores were closed for a long time, many turned to online, and this was reflected in the sales of virtual bookstores. "If we look at the data of our online bookstore, we see an increase of 28%, with peaks in the categories of children's books +38% and personal development books, with an emphasis on practical psychology books. Very interestingly, the spiritual development subcategory had a 100% increase during the state of emergency," stated Laura Teposu, CEO of Libris.ro.

According to her, also in 2020, the most popular categories of books were Fiction, Children's books, Personal development books, Spiritual development. However, I noticed larger volumes on children's books, textbooks and school books. Also, at the beginning of the pandemic, online book sales in the Business category increased on Libris.ro by 80%.

Among the best-selling books were:

1. Forgive me for loving you - Ela EH
2. The Art of Manipulation - Kevin Dutton
3. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas - John Boyne
4. The silent patient - Alex Michaelides
5. 27 steps - Tibi Useriu

Autographed books, an appreciated gift

Romanians have also begun to appreciate more and more the books that come with the author's autograph, usually a limited edition of the book, which usually sells out quickly.

"Romanians have a special respect for authors, in general, for their favorite authors, in particular. The Author of the Month campaign started by Libris in 2013 and continued monthly since then has demonstrated this to us. We have had, all these years, autographed books from the most important writers in Romania. The autographed books sold out, in many cases, in the first hours of the campaign and brought sale up to 200 times more than in a month when we didn't have such a campaign", said Laura Teposu, Libris.ro CEO.

31 years after the Timișoara Revolution of 1989, at the West University of Timișoara, the conference "Imagine. Sound.89. Photography and multimedia: places of memory of the Revolution”.

The event was organized by the Faculty of Arts and Design from UVT, with the participation of the Institute of Romanian Studies at the University of Vienna.

The conference "IMAGINE.SUNET.'89 Photography and multimedia: places of memory of the Revolution" does not aim to politicize recent history, nor is it a "revealer" of truths, like the solution used in the photographic film development technique.

The public will interact, through the guests, with the past of the days of the 1989 Revolution, through the personal histories recalled in the center of Europe (Petrea Lindenbauer), or through the stories heard transformed into images (Bede Kincsö), as well as through the histories transmitted from the middle of the events (Andrei Pandele ), or through theater and documentary film (Carmen-Lidia Vidu), through a specific way of interdisciplinary filtering (Florin Oprescu).

All these are formulas to bring the '89 moment closer to us and to our understanding.

The conference takes place in the virtual space with the support of the Western University of Timișoara, the Faculty of Arts and Design and with the participation of the Institute of Romance Studies at the University of Vienna.
