"We have already prioritized kindergartens and primary education. We want this" (ed. reopening of schools and kindergartens), said the Minister of Education, Sorin Cîmpeanu, according to the truth.ro. "We know, they should be opened according to the calendar on January 11, the second semester starts on February 8, this is a zero emergency," Cîmpeanu said. He mentioned the fact that he needs to consult with epidemiology specialists "we have to take into account the evolution especially of this new form that the virus has acquired, which unfortunately has children in the center of attention. We have to see how other states do it".

Sorin Cîmpeanu: "In Education I can say that we have a series of emergencies. Emergencies that primarily concern how we will manage to open schools as quickly as possible from an epidemiological perspective, starting even gradually with kindergartens and primary education, continuing with secondary, high school and university education. We have already prioritized kindergartens and primary education. We want this.

We have to take into account the evolution especially of this new form that the virus has acquired, which unfortunately has children in the center of attention. We need to see how other states are doing, we need to consult with those who have the competence to pronounce on the epidemiological perspective, and all this in the desire to reopen schools as soon as possible. We know, they should open according to the calendar on January 11, the second semester starts on February 8, this is a zero emergency".

Câmpeanu also said that "The education system includes over 3 million pupils, over 500 thousand students, hundreds of thousands of teaching staff and auxiliary teaching staff, each of us has children who are pupils or students, each of us is connected with the education system. It is the largest public system in any country. It is the system, which along with the health system, paid the highest costs during this very specific period of the pandemic".

The new minister also stated in his intervention that the future Education budget is now being discussed and that "the mandate is on the table", implying that he will resign if he does not receive enough funds to implement the promises in the government program.

How Many Romanians Would Vaccinate Against COVID, How Many Would Refuse And What Reasons They Give, According to the Results of the Latest IRES Survey
SURVEY - How many Romanians would get vaccinated against COVID, how many would refuse and what reasons they cite. The results of the last IRES survey
newspapers.com

The Romanian Institute for Evaluation and Strategy (IRES) conducted a new survey to find out how Romanians perceive the pandemic, to what extent they are influenced by it and how many of them would be willing to get vaccinated.

More than half of Romanians know at least one person infected with the new virus coronavirus, percentage three times higher than in July. Paradoxically, people are not necessarily more worried than in the summer, reveals an IRES survey. About 2/3, approximately 70% of Romanians say that they are very and quite worried because of the situation generated by the COVID-19 pandemic. In July, 76% of Romanians were worried for the same reason.

However, people were a bit more careful. Lately, one out of 10 Romanians has been tested on their own initiative, almost three times more than 4 months ago. The percentage of Romanians who declare that they have been tested for COVID-19 on their own initiative has almost tripled - from 5% in July to 13% in December. 6% say that it was tested at the request of the authorities, and 9% at the request of the employer.

At the same time, 25% of Romanians are determined to get vaccinated as soon as possible once the vaccine is available, but almost 4 out of 10 are still reserved in this regard. Almost a third of Romanians say that they would not get vaccinated in any form.

31 years after the Timișoara Revolution of 1989, at the West University of Timișoara, the conference "Imagine. Sound.89. Photography and multimedia: places of memory of the Revolution”.

The event was organized by the Faculty of Arts and Design from UVT, with the participation of the Institute of Romanian Studies at the University of Vienna.

The conference "IMAGINE.SUNET.'89 Photography and multimedia: places of memory of the Revolution" does not aim to politicize recent history, nor is it a "revealer" of truths, like the solution used in the photographic film development technique.

The public will interact, through the guests, with the past of the days of the 1989 Revolution, through the personal histories recalled in the center of Europe (Petrea Lindenbauer), or through the stories heard transformed into images (Bede Kincsö), as well as through the histories transmitted from the middle of the events (Andrei Pandele ), or through theater and documentary film (Carmen-Lidia Vidu), through a specific way of interdisciplinary filtering (Florin Oprescu).

All these are formulas to bring the '89 moment closer to us and to our understanding.

The conference takes place in the virtual space with the support of the Western University of Timișoara, the Faculty of Arts and Design and with the participation of the Institute of Romance Studies at the University of Vienna.
