Thursday, May 4, 2023, from 13:00 p.m., in the Great Hall of the Senate of the Politehnica University of Timișoara, in Piața Victoriei no. 2, the anthology "Timișoara between paradigm and parable" will be launched, the second revised and added edition, published by the Politehnica University of Timișoara together with the Politehnica Timișoara Foundation and the 360 Cultural Association0.
The volume published by the Politehnica Publishing House was edited by Elena Jebelean, Alina Mazilu, Eleonora Ringler-Pascu and Daniela Șilindean and resumes, in a new formula, a project carried out in 2001 together with a group of students from the Faculty of Letters, Philosophy and History from the West University of Timișoara.
The book proposes literary texts dedicated, over time, to the city of Timișoara by a whole series of writers. They are accompanied by photographs taken by the architects Hortensia and Mihai Botescu. They are works that invite the reader on a journey through space and time. Pluralism and multiculturalism are reproduced through testimonies written in German, Hungarian and Serbian languages, in addition to those in Romanian - in an attempt to talk about the idea of identity and ethnic consciousness, the volume constituting itself as a textual and photographic mirror of what can meant Timisoara.
In May, the University of the West organizes three conferences called "La UVT, Cultura e Capitală", one of them with Jean Pierre Sauvage - laureate of the Nobel Prize for Chemistry - as a guest. Access is free.

In a few days, the curious will receive answers, after the old military edifice will be officially opened for a mega-project, set up by the Triade Foundation and Attila Kim Architects. It's called "after sculpture / sculpture after" and for the next seven months it will host older or newer works by nearly 80 artists. He will seek to clarify, in one way or another, the place that Romanian sculpture has today and how innovative its resources are, according to Brâncusi's experience.
"A better education means a better world. In addition to exact sciences, culture and art, the school has the role of teaching students how they can become responsible adults. Adults who know their rights are more concerned about the society in which they live. They care about the environment and show respect for other people," Deca wrote on his Facebook page, referring to the draft laws of Education.
"The school will instill these values in the students - that's why we have included new civic and environmental protection skills in the national curriculum," Ligia Deca said.
According to the minister, civic education is important because it represents a tool through which students will be more aware of the world they live in and will develop useful skills throughout their lives.
"They will know what their role is in society and will be more confident to act when needed," added the official.
"The future of our children depends on the decisions made by the management of the institutions where they study. Any change or decision can affect how students feel at school and their chances of a quality education.
Through the new Laws of Education, we professionally support principals and deputy principals in their first term and ensure quality management with a new measure: the introduction of a mandatory training course in educational management. Also, they will be supported by a mentor for management", the representatives of the Ministry of Education said today, in a post on the social media account of the Ministry of Education.
The draft law on higher education received an adoption report in the Education Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, according to Agerpres.
"A country that focuses on critical thinking, on open expression and the exchange of ideas", but also one that knows how to welcome young people returning from studies abroad, instead of being afraid of them. This is what the result of education reform should look like, according to Rebecca Zeigler Mano, an American education expert who specializes in assisting students from various countries who want to study in the US. Students who, she says in an interview Edupedu.ro, are attracted to study abroad also through the prism of the diversity offered there - diversity which, in Romania, is the target of political and religious objections in the last stages of the discussions on the draft laws on education.
Rebecca Zeigler Mano discussed on Edupedu.ro about the reforms in the educational system, through the lens of young people who go to study abroad and return to the country, but also about the challenges they face - both when leaving and when they return.
"You can't blame them for the moment you leave, but when they come back and no one greets them, can you blame them? They don't need a red carpet, they need someone who understands that they bring something valuable. A country will develop because it is open to new ideas, and they are open to new ways of thinking," she says.
