Throwback to the Tour du Mont Blanc Project

The project Tour du Mont Blanc Erasmus+ Student Trail, organized by the Université Savoie Mont Blanc, has ended this Friday, June 11, with a closing ceremony held in the city of Chamonix.

About 50 students from 9 universities across Europe, including 5 UNITA partners, had begun this sport adventure on Sunday, June 6. The course was 42.5 km long, with 3080m of positive altitude difference and 2860m of negative altitude difference! Completed in 4 days, this itinerary revealed to the students a great diversity of landscapes around the valleys of Beaufortain and Chamonix.

In teams, they also participated in different challenges and learned about environment preservation, especially in mountain areas. While the red team won the orientation challenge, the green team has won the creative video prize awarded during the ceremony, after shooting and realizing a video about the place of sport at university. Along with their prize, they will have the opportunity to go on a trip to Brussels to visit the European Commission this fall.

The closing ceremony featured Juliette Martinez, official from the city of Chamonix, and Philippe Galez, President of the Université Savoie Mont Blanc, who both praised this innovative project. The two ambassadors of the Tour and high-level athletes Oscar Lombardot and Marie Pollet-Villard, also had the occasion to share their respective experience and explain why sport was so important at university.

At the end, everyone left with only one idea: come together again for another sport challenge, maybe in another UNITA country?
