Alumni of UVT obtain prestigious awards of the Romanian Writers' Union

At the beginning of June, the Romanian Writers Union Awards for 2020 were awarded. Among the laureates are two alumni of the Western University of Timișoara: Ioan T. Morar and Cristian Pătrășconiu.

The jury, formed by Răzvan Voncu (president), Daniel Cristea-Enache, Gabriela Gheorghişor, Ioan Holban, Mircea Mihăieş, Angelo Mitchievici and Vasile Spiridon (members), decided to award Special Award volume "Fake news in the Golden Age. Memories and stories about communist censorship", author Ioan T. Morar, Polirom Publishing House.

The laudatio for this award was given by the Emeritus Professor of the Western University of Timișoara, Mircea Mihăieș.

Also in this section, the Publishing House of the West University of Timișoara had a nomination represented by Cristian Pătrășconiu's volume, "Marea Unire. The first hundred".

In the Romanian Writers Union Awards Gala was awarded, by the Association of Magazines, Printers and Literary Publishers, the Award for The best book. The jury, made up of Nicolae Manolescu (president), Mihai Zamfir and Daniel Cristea-Enache, awarded this prestigious distinction to Cristian Pătrășconiu for four volumes published in the spring of 2020 at the Publishing House of the Western University in Timișoara: "Secret, Communism of the Past, Great Union. The first hundred and thirty, the years after". The laudatio for this award was given by Daniel Cristea-Enache.

Cristian Pătrășconiu's four award-winning volumes were well received by specialized critics, enjoying appreciation in many of the country's cultural magazines. He holds a degree in political science from the Faculty of Philosophy of the Western University of Timișoara. He was also a student of a master's degree in comparative literature and intertextuality at the same university, student and scholarship holder of "A Treia Europa" College in Timișoara. In 2017 he published another volume, Questions asked at Punkt, also at the West University Publishing House in Timișoara.
