The Romanian Academy annually awards the most valuable scientific works (by field of activity) developed by Romanian academics and researchers and their collaborators from abroad.

The University Horizons Association, together with the Timișoara City Council and the Romanian Academy, Timișoara Branch, annually awards excellence in scientific research activities by awarding the "Eminent Researcher" award.

The awards of the annual competition for the best young Romanian researchers in science and engineering, organized by the City Hall of Cluj-Napoca in partnership with Mrs. Prof. Rada Mihalcea (University of Michigan), offer recognition to young researchers in these fields who, through their work, have demonstrated excellence and have made extraordinary contributions in their area of ​​expertise, but also to society.

Publons is a global community of peer reviewers that aims to encourage collaboration and accelerate scientific development. With Publons, researchers can easily track every review they do in the world's journals, demonstrating how often top editors rely on their expertise to produce new research. The 2017 top of the best reviews from the best 30 countries was established based on the number of verified peer review publications from all journals in the world added to Publons.

In 2017, The Western University of Timisoara was named the winner of the Award for Excellence in International Collaborations (Elsevier Scopus Award for Excellence in International Collaboration), thus confirming the results obtained in recent years in the most important international rankings.

The Scopus Awards Gala, 2017 edition, was organized in Iasi, on October 26, 2017. Elsevier organized the Scopus Award Gala for the first time in Romania, and in Eastern Europe, in 2015.

UVT manages to remain in the narrow group of elite institutions in the field of research, being nominated, together with Babeș Bolyai University from Cluj Napoca and the Romanian Academy, for the Award for Excellence in International Collaborations. Category winner Elsevier Scopus Award for Excellence in International Collaboration was established using the latest bibliometric methods, in this case the SciVal International Collaboration Ratio tool.
