On the 21st of June, on the occasion of the celebration of music (La Fête de la musique) - an annual event initiated 20 years ago in France, one of the most beloved popular summer celebrations of the art of sounds - was inaugurated in the town of Aubusson in France , the work "Aubusson vu par Cristian Sida", a work made between 2021-2022 by the visual artist Cristian Sida, associate professor at the Faculty of Arts and Design - West University of Timișoara. The work represents a "collage" of subjective cultural and geographical references, transposed on the canvas, having a size of 10 meters by 7, made in the technique of acrylic, spray, marker and varnish.
Half-resident in the country of the Eiffel Tower, the contemporary Cristian Sida, well-known and appreciated visual artist in France, extended the fruitful collaboration from a personal to an institutional level, creating a solid link between our faculty and various French institutions.
His Lordship's friendship with Michel Moine, mayor of Aubusson, with Richard Marcziniak, president of AIAP (Association Internationale des Arts Plastiques) Palier, materialized in a series of residencies for students of the Faculty of Arts and Design, starting in 2013. Thanks the same old and solid ties with the Town Hall of Aubusson, during the 2016 creative residency, the tapestry students had the opportunity to visit La Cité Internationale de la Tapisserie, the World Center of Tapestry, located in the Limousin region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
The inauguration of the Timișoara painter's work is part of the series of cultural events and the internationalization process of the Western University of Timișoara and, as "At UVT, culture is the Capital!", we suggest you also visit the World Tapestry Capital! Deserve!
