The 9th edition of the International Colloquium Communication and Culture in European Romania (CICCRE), with the theme "Cultural diversity and plurilingualism in the Romanian space", will be held on June 10-2023, XNUMX, at the Western University of Timisoara .

The largest scientific event of its kind in Romania, unique in its multi- and intercultural dimension, the Romanian colloquium enjoys a special context this year: the choice of Timisoara as the cultural capital of Europe, a fact that represents a real chance for interaction with languages and European cultures.

Through its multicultural tradition, Timișoara offers the ideal setting for such an event, the guests and organizers demonstrating on every occasion the linguistic and cultural diversity of the Romanian spirit, a model of cultural identity, but also of assimilation of external influences, a space where education has grown bilingual, a particularly beneficial aspect, which transcends borders and implicitly attracts, along with intercultural communication, the deepening of complex, interdependent concepts: (multi)cultural competence (intercultural, metacultural, transcultural), plurilingualism.

Organized by the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology of the Western University of Timișoara, in partnership with several scientific and cultural institutions, the colloquium has as guests, renowned specialists in the study of Romance languages: Prof. Paul Videssot, from the University of Bolzano ( Italy) and Florencio Del Barrio De La Rosa, from Ca'Foscari University in Venice.

At the opening of the colloquium, together with the organizers, personalities from the academic and diplomatic world will give speeches: prof.univ.dr. Marilen Gabriel Pirtea, rector of the Western University of Timisoara, José Miguel Vinals Arino, honorary consul of the Kingdom of Spain in Timisoara, Segundo Rufino Delgado Montenegro, honorary consul of the Republic of Peru in Timisoara, Angela Pesavento, honorary consul of Italy, prof.univ.dr. skillful Ioana Costa, president of the Society of Classical Studies in Romania.

The 12 sections of the colloquium bring together 127 participants, thus confirming the importance of researching languages, literatures, arts and cultures from the Romance space, as well as the interest that this major scientific event, organized by UVT, has, every year, in the academic world of country and abroad.

At the Timișoara National Art Museum, a partner of the edition, guided visits will be held on the second day of the event, and the Faculty of Music and Theatre, involved in the organization, will offer a concert in the Baroque Hall of the edifice, being also highlighted in this way the cultural status that Timișoara has this year.
