Cristian Presură, invited to UVT in the conference series "Connect to the future"

Friday, July 21, starting at 17:00 p.m., a special event will take place, organized by the West University of Timișoara under the title "Connect to the Future", dedicated to popularizing science. In the Aula Magna, we will have the renowned physicist as our guest Cristian Presura. It will explore the fascinating theme – “Philips – Science told". The event will be moderated by the university professor. Dr. Madalin Bunoiu.

Cristian Presură is the inventor of the optical sensor in the watch that measures the pulse, currently a researcher at Philips Research Eindhoven. In his books published at Humanitas, at the conferences he holds in Romania, but also on his YouTube channel, Presură manages to "translate" complex concepts into easy-to-understand terms, thus captivating both experts and those who are just starting out to discover the fascinating world of science.

The Rector of the Western University of Timișoara, Marilen Gabriel Pirtea: In this special year of the European Capital of Culture, we enjoy very prestigious guests here at UVT. In the first half of this year, UVT proposed to the Timisoara community the meeting with four Nobel laureates, but also with other significant personalities from the universe of international arts and sciences. And the meeting with the Romanian inventor Cristian Presură is in this highly representative series, of interest not only to academics, but also to the general public. We are waiting for you again to participate in a celebration of science, in the Aula Magna UVT!

The "Connect to the Future" project involves the UVT faculties that study the exact sciences: physics, chemistry, biology, geography, mathematics, informatics and aims to popularize science by means of an interactive dialogue between a moderator, the public and a specialist from the faculties or a guest recognized by the scientific community.

The event is part of the cultural program "At UVT, Culture is Capital!", included in the Cultural Program "Timișoara 2023 - European Capital of Culture", Oameni territory, Reflectiţi station, financed by the Municipality of Timișoara through the Project Center, co-financed by the Timiș County Council , through the TimCultura 2023 program. The partner of this series of events is NOKIA.
