In 2023, UVT proposes a cultural program with its own identity, in which the cultural resources of the university are highlighted to the local community or on a national and international level. These resources are manifested in all the fields in which our faculties evolve and form elites: literature and music, visual and applied arts, theology and philosophy, sports and physical education, urban ecology and the environment. The cultural family of UVT can be found in the entire Timișoara community but also in Europe, and the year of Timișoara - European Capital of Culture 2023 is the occasion for unique events, in which we offer the public a program that meets expectations, especially through the involvement of artists from the Faculty of Arts and Design and the Faculty of Music and Theatre.
In this context, on the occasion of the working visit to Madrid of a mixed delegation of the European Affairs Committees from the Chamber of Deputies and the Romanian Senate (May 9-10, 2023), the Romanian Embassy in Madrid, together with the Western University of Timișoara, organizes the photo exhibition dedicated to the program "Timișoara - European Capital of Culture 2023". The exhibition of students from the Photo-Video section of the Faculty of Arts and Design of the University of West Timișoara, entitled "IMAGO – Visions in Transition”, presents the photography works of undergraduate university students, being the visual result of their efforts in collaboration with the coordinating teaching staff, university lecturer Mădălin Mărienuț and university assistant drd. Amalia Gaita.
The exhibition is hosted between May 8-12 at the headquarters of the Congress of Deputies in Madrid and is made by students from the Faculty of Arts and Design of the Western University of Timișoara. The exhibition presents the young people's vision of the cultural and human heritage of the city, a symbol of the Romanian Revolution and of a peaceful and democratic modern society. The event is part of the cultural program "At UVT, Culture is Capital!", included in the Cultural Program "Timișoara 2023 - European Capital of Culture", Oameni territory, Reflectiţi station, financed by the Municipality of Timișoara through the Project Center, co-financed by the Timiș County Council , through the TimCultura 2023 program.
During this period, at the initiative of the Romanian Embassy in Madrid, Romania and Spain mark Europe Day by organizing, starting on May 9, 2023, the first joint parliamentary meeting at the level of European Affairs Committees. The event is all the more important as we are nearing the semester of the Spanish presidency at the EU Council, and the meeting comes to underline the close coordination relationship between Romania and Spain, but also the shared will to support the process of deepening European integration.
The Romanian parliamentary delegation, which will participate in the meeting, is made up of representatives of the European Affairs Committee of the Senate and of the European Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Deputies. The agenda of the working visit of the parliamentary delegation to Madrid also includes a meeting with the representatives of the Romanian community in Spain, as well as participation in the conference "The role of the EU in a changing world: parliamentary perspectives from Spain and Romania", organized by the Romanian Embassy in Madrid in collaboration with the Ortega-Marañón Foundation.
