The Western University of Timișoara registered a new first, by launching the first sustainability center in a Romanian university. Thus, on Friday, September 25, 2020, within the UVT, the launch took place The sustainability center "Green UVT" in the presence of university professor Dr. Mădălin Bunoiu – Vice-Rector, Univ. Prof. Dr. Petru Ștefea – Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Dr. Vlad Petcu – Deputy General Director.
The "Green UVT" sustainability center is the result of the implementation of the project Erasmus+ Program Key Action 2, "Teaching and educating for Sustainability", No. project: 2018-1-RO01-049253, project manager Prof. univ. Dr. Gabriela Mircea. The center of sustainability aims to support education for the application of the requirements of sustainable development and the innovation of teaching methods for this purpose; promoting scientific research in the field of sustainable development; promoting multi- and transdisciplinary education and research; the coagulation of initiatives carried out in the field of sustainability and the application of their results; the transfer to society of the results of education and research on sustainable development.
We were honored to have in our midst representatives of the pre-university educational environment, specialist inspectors from the Timiș County School Inspectorate and numerous teachers from representative high schools in Timișoara (National College "CD Loga", National College Bănățean, Economic College "FS Nitti" , etc.), teaching staff of the Western University of Timișoara (representatives from all UVT faculties) and the Polytechnic University of Timișoara, respectively representatives from Denkstatt Romania, Timișoara City Hall (Department of the Environment), Aquatim, the National Center for Production and Consumption Sustainable, Environmental Innovative Technologies, Wipro Technologies and civil society representatives.
The constructive dialogue, moderated in the workshop "Dimensions of sustainability in the XNUMXst century" by Prof. Univ. dr. Liliana Donath, circumscribed the e-learning platform developed within the project and the perspectives of collaboration between all social partners interested in the issue of sustainable development.
