Night of Researchers – event for curious minds and science enthusiasts

The Faculty of Physics of the Western University of Timișoara invites those passionate and lovers of physics and natural sciences to take part in a new edition of the European event Night of the Researchers. Promoted by The European Commission through the framework project Horizon 2020, the event addresses curious minds, from enthusiasts to skeptics, offering a wide variety of scientific and educational activities, public events dedicated to the direct relationship between researchers and the public. They showcase the diversity of research and highlight the impact of research on our everyday lives. The aim is also to motivate young people to pursue a career in research. The Night of Researchers invites all the curious to a journey into the fascinating world of science. Every year, researchers, explorers and inventors meet at the largest science event for the general public in Romania. Together with them, you can participate in unique experiments, exciting conferences and contests with attractive prizes. 

Year Researchers' night organizes Friday, September 24, by a consortium formed by prestigious Universities in Romania, of which the Western University of Timișoara is also a part.

 The organizers of the event included in the program activities such as:

  • lectures by national figures in the Romanian scientific field;

Guests of honor: Dumitru Prunariu, the first Romanian cosmonaut, Honorary President of the Romanian Space Agency, Marius-Ioan Piso, President of the Romanian Space Agency; both Doctor Honoris Causa of the West University of Timișoara, Research Center ELI-NP, Bucuresti Magurele, as well as the National Research and Development Institute for Earth Physics – Timișoara Seismological Observatory.

  • the awarding of prizes to the winners of the science-themed graphics and media contest –  Dit's to the stars to the center of the earth, as well as two special prizes additionally offered by the Timișoara Seismological Observatory and the Faculty of Physics (more details in the contest regulations);
  • visits to the ExperimentariumTM and the Timișoara Seismological Observatory;
  • astronomical observations in collaboration with the Timisoara Astronomical Observatory.

We are waiting for you with great enthusiasm Friday, September 24 starting at 15.00:18 in the Aula Magna and the central hall of the Western University of Timișoara, then in the ExperimentariumTM locations (starting at 30:20) and the Timișoara Seismological Observatory (starting at 00:XNUMX).
