One of the concerns of the Western University of Timișoara, as a comprehensive university, is to bring together the indisputable values ​​of the various fields of excellence, realizing that universities are currently institutions that can serve as social catalysts. Assuming the role with which it was invested by its founders, namely as the main center of knowledge in the western region of the country, as a promoter of culture, but also as a pillar of support for society, the Western University of Timișoara constantly tries to give the well-deserved recognition to important names from the scientific, cultural, artistic, economic, social or political world and bring to the fore the true role models for the younger generations.

The academic community of the Western University of Timișoara has the special privilege of inviting the renowned professor emeritus Vlad Constantinesco, one of the most important jurists of Romanian origin in Europe, to join them.

Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Strasbourg (France), former Dean of the Faculty of International Comparative Law in Strasbourg, professor at the Collège d'Europe (Bruges, Belgium), co-director of the Center for International and European Studies at the University of Strasbourg, member of the National Council of the Universities of France, Honorary Doctorate of the University of Bucharest, of the University of "Babeș-Bolyai" Cluj-Napoca, of the University of Friborg (Switzerland) and of the University of Lisbon (Portugal), to list only a part of the positions held and the distinctions obtained, Professor Vlad Constantinesco has a brilliant academic career and enjoys an undisputed reputation in Europe.

At the proposal of the Faculty of Law, the West University of Timișoara will award the title of Honorary Doctorate to Mr. Vlad Constantinesco, in a special ceremony that will take place on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in the A01 Amphitheater of UVT.
