As a partner in the project "Romania-Serbia NETwork for the assessment and dissemination of the impact of copper mining activities on water quality in the cross-border area" (RoS-NET2), the Western University of Timișoara, through the Biology-Chemistry Department, within the Faculty of Chemistry, Biology, Geography, is pleased to announce the winning project in the final of the prestigious "Regiostars 2023" competition, in the "A green Europe" category, as project with the greatest inter-regional impact.
Under the name of competition "From mine to river. The Water Guardians!”, the UVT project presented the impact of the results obtained through the project RoS-NET2, financed through the "Interreg - IPA CBC Romania - Serbia" axis, carried out between 2019 and 2021 and coordinated by Prof. Univ. Dr. Adriana Isvoran, from the Biology-Chemistry Department (UVT).
The European Regiostars competition is organized by the European Commission in the format of an annual competition organized to promote and award the best practices in regional development, through EU-funded projects. The competition was first launched in 2008 and was created to encourage regions and local authorities to share their experiences and learn from each other to support the competitiveness and development of EU regions.
