Did you know that this year marks the 370th anniversary of the birth of an important baroque organist and composer, Georg Muffat?
Amalia Erdös helps us discover him and we celebrate by including his works in the recital she will give on Wednesday, July 26, at the Piarist Church in Timișoara.
Georg Muffat was among the first cosmopolitan composers, a truly international artist whose style brought together German, French and Italian elements. His work for the organ, Apparatus musico-organisticus, from which we will listen to the Toccata Prima performed by the organist lect.univ.dr. Amalia Erdös, was the most complex work of its time, a real tour de force for any organist because it comprises a synthesis of all the compositional and stylistic techniques and tricks of the era.
