The Western University of Timișoara is pleased to invite you to participate on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, starting at 18:30 p.m., at the opening of the National Photography Exhibition "FOTOGEOGRAPHICA 2023". The event will take place at the Western University of Timișoara (V.Pârvan 4 headquarters, in the main hall).
On this occasion, the "Fotogeografica 2023" catalog will be presented, which contains the message of Mrs. Natalia-Elena Intotero, Minister of Family, Youth and Equal Opportunities, the photos awarded in the three sections of the contest - cultural heritage, natural landscape and wildlife, at the pupils/students and open categories - as well as the most successful works from the photo gallery of the contest (online expo www.fotogeografica.ro).
The exhibition "Fotogeografica 2023" presents in images and photo albums visual fragments that capture the cultural and natural heritage of Romania, made by young and established artists, and can be visited between November 7-20, 2023, in the context of Timișoara being the "Capital European Union of Culture 2023".
"More than ever, in a year in which the Timisoara community supports the European Capital of Culture program, Romania is promoted internationally through a unique collection of human, cultural and natural riches. The Romanian identity is recognized internationally, in the concert of pan-European voices, first of all by summing up its cultural values, those that belong to our specifics - creations, traditions, customs -, but also by highlighting the unique places of this country, nature and treasures them, well reflected in the project hosted by UVT – Fotogeografica 2023" - says the rector of the West University of Timișoara, prof. Dr. Marilen Gabriel Pirtea.
Fotogeografica has transformed from an annual photography contest open to the youth, completed with a multitude of activities, publications, field expeditions and a permanent questioning about the role of this genre, into a "movement-phenomenon". The standard rose year by year, and the awardees subsequently became respected professionals, with trophies in prestigious international competitions, illustrated publications and albums, and held highly successful personal exhibitions.

The event is organized by the Bucharest Students' Culture House, under the auspices of the Ministry of Family, Youth and Equal Opportunities, with the support of the West University of Timișoara for the special event organized in the Timișoara 2023 program.
