The Faculty of Music and Theater of UVT offers you the "Mozart" Project, a lyrical event occasioned by the graduation exam of soprano Marina Santrač

- Press release -

The Western University of Timișoara invites you to participate in a special lyrical event, The "Mozart" ProjectThat Faculty of Music and Theater proposes it to the Timisoara community and which will be organized in The Baroque Hall of the National Art Museum in Timișoara, on the evening of Wednesday, June 29, 2022, starting at 19 p.m.. The lyrical event is occasioned by the soprano Marina Santrač, an international student of UVT, taking her licensure exam. The concert will contain two works signed by Mozart, different in genre, but close in composition period, marking, one the childhood, the other the adolescence of the genius from Salzburg.

motet Exsultate, jubilate (K 165 / K 158a), for soprano voice, orchestra and organ, was composed and first performed publicly on 17 January 1773, during the composer's stay in Milan, shortly before he turned 17 years. Known as the "Salzburg" version, it was long lost and rediscovered only in 1978. However, the original version, the one from "Milano", was the one that prevailed over time and is still the most sung today.

The second work in the program, Bastien and Bastienne (K 50 / 46 b), is a comic opera with a pastoral character in one act, one of Mozart's earliest genre works, written by him when he was only 12 years old (1768). The singspiel-type work includes, apart from arias and vocal-instrumental ensembles, a spoken text in the form of recitatives, in the operetta genre.

Soprano Marina Santrač, who is taking her bachelor's exam during Wednesday's concert event, was born in Serbia, near the border with Romania, in the town of Vršac. After completing her primary and secondary studies, she completed her high school years in Novi Sad, later becoming a student and graduating with flying colors from the local Art Academy (painting section) in 2018. She studies Canto in parallel at the "Isidor Bajić" High School of Music with Mrs. Prof. Marta Balaž, studies successfully completed in 2017. The passion for music is fully expressed in 2018, when she decides to admit to the Faculty of Music and Theater of the Western University of Timișoara, the Singing Class of Prof. univ. skilled dr. Marius Manyov, succeeding first in the entrance exam. The soprano demonstrates a high quality standard in all genres of classical vocal music: opera, oratorio and lied, demonstrated by countless stage appearances in the country and abroad, but also by an impressive number of prizes acquired in domestic and international competitions. On Wednesday evening, Marina Santrač will fully prove her lyrical artist qualities, acquired during her four years of university studies at UVT, and practiced in the numerous public appearances materialized through exams, auditions, concerts, shows and recitals. For the full success of this last concert, the soloist cast will be completed with a tenor and a bass, from the current and former students of the Faculty of Music and Theatre, as well as the accompaniment of a quality instrumental group, which has proven its orchestral harmony through several beautiful collaborations in recent years.
