The standard cost per student could be frozen in 2023. Parents' federation: the Government's GEO does not take into account the sad reality in schools
portalinvatamant.ro

The National Federation of Edupart Parents asks the Government to take into account derogatory legislative measures for pre-university educational institutions, so as not to cancel the increase in the standard cost per student in 2023.

The reaction comes as a result of the intention of the Executive, expressed through the draft GEO regarding some fiscal-budgetary measures, the extension of some deadlines, as well as for the modification and completion of some normative acts, according to which the leaders of public institutions have the obligation to order the necessary measures, so that the expenses with the goods and services performed in 2023 not to exceed the budget provisions related to 2022.
"We draw attention to the fact that such a decision, with an impact on the pre-university education system, cancels the increase in the value of the standard cost per pre-school/pre-school/pupil for the year 2023 and, implicitly, the expenditure on goods and services, decision adopted by the National Council for the Financing of Education Pre-university and transposed in Decision No. 48/2023, for the amendment of GD No. 72/2013, regarding the approval of the methodological rules for determining the standard cost per pre-school/pre-school/pupil and establishing the basic funding", the FNP-EDUPART press release states.
Parents' representatives point out that such a decision will generate additional problems for school management, which is already facing difficulties related to resources and financing.

Remus Pricopie: The excess of amendments to the Education laws - I understand that more than 800 have been submitted - shows the special interest in education, but it can also cause blockages or confusion
news.ro

The rector of the National School of Political and Administrative Studies (SNSPA), Remus Pricopie, says on Monday that the parliamentary debate on Education laws is extremely important, but "the risk of over-regulation can do more harm than good". Pricopie refers to the more than 800m of amendments that have been submitted, which shows "the special interest in education, but it can also produce blockages or confusion".

"The parliamentary debate on the Education Laws is extremely important. Although, many times, the regulation process of a sector is perceived as a responsibility of the Government, the Parliament is and must be the supreme forum for debate and legislation. And not only through the prism of its representative character, but also the fact that the plurality of ideas, values and visions on society ensures a greater coherence and sustainability of the normative acts", transmitted, on Monday, the rector of SNSPA, Remus Pricopie.

According to him, "any such process must be managed with care and responsibility".

"The Romanian state considers us a priori thieves". Instructors with top students in computer science, removed from the science committee of the national olympiad
school9.ro

Cristian and Cătălin Frâncu, instructors at the Nerdvana informatics and robotics training center, former Olympians themselves and with students with exceptional results, accuse the Ministry of Education of removing them from the scientific commission, interpreting a regulation with excessive zeal. The ministry defends itself with the law and claims that the two were incompatible, because Cristian's daughter had qualified for the national stage. However, it was not in the classes where they did the subjects. "The ministry is punishing us for instilling our passions in our children," say the two, and they are determined to take the institution to court.

Cristian and Cătălin Frâncu have students with exceptional results every year at the professional Olympiad. Cătălin is also the founder of the Dexonline platform. This year dozens of their students qualified for the national stage which took place between 1st and 6th April.

A third of the sixth graders qualified for the Olympics were trained by Cristian Frâncu. Of his 29 students who competed, 27 won medals and the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th places in the country ranking went to them. Of the 27 students qualified at the high school by Cătălin, his brother, 24 received medals. Of these, two were absolute first places with maximum points, in the ninth and twelfth grades. High school students are also those who aspire to the national IT team with which Romania competes in international competitions.
