The Central University Library "Eugen Todoran" from Timișoara in partnership with the Union of Ukrainians from Romania, organizes the opening of the exhibition on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 18.00 p.m. Books of Ukraine. The event takes place at the central headquarters of the library on Bd. Vasile Pârvan no. 4A, first floor.
The exhibition is dedicated to commemorating one year since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It includes books from its own collections and from the donation made to the library by the Union of Ukrainians in Romania, grouped in areas such as: history, Romanian-Ukrainian relations, literature, folklore, Romanians in Ukraine and Ukrainians in Romania.
According to the statement of the general director of the library, prof. Dr. Vasile Docea:
"The exhibition has two purposes. One is ethical: let's draw attention, once more, to the tragedy of the Ukrainian people, victims of Russia's military aggression. The second purpose is academic and consists in presenting a large number of books, mostly scientific, which can serve for rigorous documentation in relation to Ukraine."
At the opening of the event, the general director of the library, Prof. Univ. Dr. Vasile Docea, Gheorghe Hleba, president of the Union of Ukrainians in Romania, Sorin Spilca, member of the Ukrainian Youth Organization in Romania and university lecturer. Dr. Mihai Murariu from the West University of Timișoara.
The interested public can visit the exhibition until April 28, 2023. Admission is free!
