"What your eye doesn't see" - microphotography exhibition, at UVT

Discover the fascinating world of science at the "What Your Eye Can't See" exhibition. We invite you to explore a collection of 20 photographs taken with a scanning electron microscope. You will be able to see details of different materials, which at first sight cannot be visualized, thus approaching the spectacular world of nanoscience images and with it the different themes and lines of research developed in the Institute of Construction Sciences, Eduardo Torroja.

This exhibition will be mounted in the lobby on the 1st floor, in front of the UVT Magna Auditorium, and will be open for 2 weeks, starting on September 29.

Scanning electron microscopy is an effective tool for the study and assessment of all stages of the construction life cycle (raw materials, manufacture, construction on a structure, use, recycling / reuse).

The world of science saw one of its greatest advances in 1942 with the development of Scanning Electron Microscopy which, with a resolution between 3 and 20 nm, allows the surface of samples to be observed at magnifications of up to 250.000x, leading to significant advances in understanding the structure and composition of building materials, as well as the phenomena and reactions that occur in interactions with the environment.

The event is part of the Night of Researchers. Partners: Western University of Timișoara, Gobierno de España, Ministerio de Economía, Industria Y Competitividad, CSIC, FECYT, Instituto Eduardo Torroja, Embajada de España en Bucarest, Cooperación Española, Instituto Cervantes Bucarest.
