The Western University of Timișoara inaugurated on Monday, October 5, on International Education Day, the new headquarters where the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology will operate, a space dedicated to the Department of Romanian Studies, for study programs dedicated to History and Theology .

The event was attended by the Rector of UVT, prof. dr. Marilen Gabriel Pirtea, with whom were His Highness Ioan Selejan, the Metropolitan of Banat and university associate. Dr. Loredana Pungă, dean of the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology.

Univ. Prof. Dr. Marilen Gabriel Pirtea emphasized, in relation to the new patrimonial investment of UVT: "We have the great joy of inaugurating today, October 5, with the celebration of International Education Day, a modern and ergonomic building dedicated to Theology and History, programs of the Department of Romanian Studies in the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology of UVT. It is not a coincidence, we deliberately chose the date of October 5 for the inauguration of this new building, precisely to mark in our collective memory the investment in education, for the future. Although we are in the midst of a pandemic, when the restrictions forced us to make radical decisions to carry out educational activities in a hybrid or completely online mode, we do not get discouraged and we carefully take care of all the projects and strategic investments we have in progress. We would not at all want that at the end of the restrictions application period, at the end of the pandemic, we end up with delayed major projects. On the contrary, the life of our university goes on, facing challenges and adapting to changes, regardless of the length of the period of restrictions. I am extremely happy because we managed to offer the education of the Theology and History programs in UVT a new modern and ergonomic equipment, a significant motivation that is commensurate with the beautiful ambitions of the students and teaching staff here".

His Highness Ioan Selejan, Metropolitan of Banat, noted in his message "Theology students now have a second cathedral. The first is the one you know, from Revolution Square, the second is now in the new building of the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology. Here, the will of the Decree by which the University of the West was established, which included the study programs of Letters, History and Theology, is being strengthened. It is an important moment in the life of the Timisoara university center".

The building has a usable area of 2.126 sqm, distributed over three levels (ground floor, first floor and attic), incorporating 1 lecture rooms, 4 seminar rooms, 6 multifunctional rooms and a library, as well as the spaces dedicated to the UVT Learning Center , teachers' offices and the School Management Center. The total value of the works amounts to 3 million lei, budgeted both from the budget of the West University of Timișoara and from the budget of the Ministry of Education and Research. The premises of the new building can simultaneously accommodate more than 8,048 people.
