The academic community of the Western University of Timișoara (UVT) is pleased to announce the program for the opening of the academic year 2023-2024, a host of academic events and unique artistic productions, proposed to students and all Timișoara residents willing to join us.
The opening celebration of the academic year will take place on Friday, September 29, 2023, an event that begins with The ceremony of awarding the title of Doctor Honoris Causa UVT the well-known French novelist and essayist Pascal bruckner, visiting professor at the University of California Saint-Diego, professor at the Institute of Political Studies in Paris, contributor to the daily newspaper Le Nouvel Observateur and, currently, to the newspaper Le Monde. This special moment will take place between 09:30 and 11:00, in the A01 amphitheater, at the UVT main office (bd. Vasile Pârvan no. 4, ground floor).
The ceremony of awarding the title of Doctor Honoris Causa UVT, will be followed by The opening celebration of the academic year (between 11:30 and 13:00).
During the evening, in the special atmosphere of the "Mihai Eminescu" National Theater in Timișoara, the well-known essayist Pascal bruckner will support public lecture "Europe loved fairy tales too much", moderated by professor Vasile Popovici, proposed to the university public and the general public from the Timisoara community. For the best possible organization, please express your desire to participate in one or more events of the day by completing registration form until September 26, 24:XNUMX. Registration will be done in order of completing the form and within the capacity of the room. The organizers will send to the email stated in the form, nominal invitations based on which the access to the hall will be made.
Friday, September 29, along with the opening festivities of the academic year, at UVT will take place UNIGHT – Researchers' night, an event that is part of an international project in which we are invited to come together to celebrate together the Night of European Researchers.
The day will end with a unique event in Romania - Festival "Univibes", which turns the entire university into a large venue for concerts and art exhibitions. Established artists will transform the UVT headquarters into a dancefloor, to celebrate together the beginning of a new academic year, students, university students and Timișoara residents, being together and enthusiastically tasting the atmosphere of student life. Irina Rimes, Mădălina Pavăl Orchesta, Fără Zahar, Țapinarii, Dora Gaitanovici, JazzAtronik, DJ ZoleeVee, DJ Kuky, MCs United, Happy Flow, IST, No'Dj, Biutopia, Bandy B2B Bibanu' took the stage. Participation in the event is free and open to the general public. The partners of the event are: the Ministry of Education, the Student Organization of the Western University of Timișoara (OSUT), the Timiș County Youth Foundation (FITT), Exit Reality and BandBook.
"Welcome to UVT" accommodation week (September 25 – October 1, 2023) – a program dedicated to first-year "freshmen", which includes activities specific to the opening of the academic year, a period of acquaintance, information and accommodation in which cultural and communication events will take place. During this week, students enrolled in the first year of undergraduate university study programs are expected at UVT to discover what it means to be a student, how the university environment works and what opportunities they have from this position.
We will end the week with a new edition of UVT Liberty Marathon, a royal of sportsmanship organized on Sunday, October 1. This year's event is all the more special, as it has as its official partner the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee, but also because the medal of this edition is signed by the Olympic champion Ana Maria Brânza.
