Diplomas for participants in the new series of the postgraduate program "Diplomatic skills for CSDP Missions", organized by UVT

Under the auspices of the European Security and Defense College (ESDC), the West University of Timișoara organized, between May 30 and June 3, 2022, a new postgraduate study program from the series "Diplomatic skills for CSDP Missions".

The pilot courses "Diplomatic skills for CSDP Missions" (Timișoara, June 2021) and Advanced Diplomatic Skills for CSDP Missions (Brussels, October 2021), organized by UVT under the aegis of ESDC, were evaluated by the Executive Academic Board and then validated by the Management Committee of the ESDC (Steering committee – made up of official representatives of all EU member states). Following this evaluation, both courses offered by UVT acquired the status of permanent courses assumed by ESDC, the diplomas thus obtained being officially recognized by all member states.

In addition to participants from EU member states, this edition was also open to participants from EU Eastern Partnership member states. Through the official contact points in these states, 45 participants registered for the course. They are generally people with professional and/or academic concerns in fields belonging to the EU's foreign policy and common defense and security policy.

Along with specialists from UVT, the course benefited from the intervention supported by the expertise of some first-rate international specialists, such as: Commander sg Kurt EngelenProfessor Iulian Chifu , Ambassador Cornel FerutaProfessor Alina BârgăoanuProfessor Bart Dessein, Professor Mihai Răzvan Ungureanu, Ambassador Johan VerbekeProfessor Liliana Popescu.

On the last day of the program, the students were handed their course graduation diplomas, a very good opportunity for evaluating and forecasting new stages of studies and skills development through future training programs organized by UVT under the auspices of the European College of Security and Defense (ESDC).

The rector of UVT, university professor Dr. Marilen Gabriel Pirtea: "The Western University of Timișoara is an active partner of the European Security and Defense College (ESDC) of the EU, and our programs are particularly well-appreciated and are becoming more and more attractive for students from the EU and from the member states of the EU's Eastern Partnership . Especially now, when the entire system of international relations is shaken by the aggression of the Russian Federation on Ukraine, the security studies offered by UVT and the programs we advance in partnership with ESDC, for the development of the security culture, are becoming highly requested and have an essential role for the good training and future career of our students, who come from the entire sphere of occupations specific to the world of diplomatic and security relations."

The program coordinator, university professor Dr. Silviu Rogobete (UVT): "This edition of the "Diplomatic skills for CSDP Missions" course brought together 47 participants from 15 EU and Eastern Partnership states and an important number of top-ranking specialists. I was very happy to see their exceptional interaction, the relationships built, which will go beyond this course, as well as the high quality of the discussions and courses offered. It was an honor to be able to work together with colleagues from UVT and ESDC to offer this program, which is becoming more and more attractive every year. Thanks to everyone involved, with a special mention to George Panfil, the ESDC lead for this course."
