The Faculty of Law awards its winners. 2023 edition

The results obtained by the students of the Faculty of Law of the University of the West in Timișoara in the national and international competitions organized in the academic year 2022/2023 are publicly marked through an event organized on Sunday, July 2, 2023, starting at 17 p.m., in the A01 Amphitheater of the University of the West from Timișoara, Bd. Vasile Pârvan no. 4.

On this occasion, the students who participated in the 2023 edition of the Hexagon of Law Faculties will be awarded, a prestigious national competition organized annually between the teams of the law faculties of the University of Bucharest, "Babeș-Bolyai" University Cluj-Napoca, "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University ” Iași, the "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu, the University of Craiova and the West University of Timișoara, with the participation of the State University of Moldova (Chisinau) as a special guest. This year's edition of the competition included 3 scientific tests (Civil Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law) and 4 sports tests (football, streetball, table tennis and chess). The team of the Faculty of Law from Timișoara placed 2rd in the general ranking of the competition. At the same time, the Faculty of Law from Timișoara obtained first place in 7 of the 2023 tests of the competition: the scientific test of constitutional law and the sports test of chess. Also, the Faculty of Law from Timișoara took the XNUMXnd place in the football sports test and the XNUMXth place in the scientific tests of Civil Law and Criminal Law and in the sports tests of streetball and table tennis. The team that represented the Faculty of Law from Timișoara at the XNUMX edition of the Hexagon of Law Faculties was made up of: Constitutional Law – Daniel Jivi and Alexandra Popa, coordinated by Mrs. conf.univ.dr. Andreea VerteșOlteanu; Civil law – Bianca-Nicoleta Mănoiu and Roxana Pancan, coordinated by Mr. asist.cercet.dr. Maximilian-Andrei Druță et al. Sergiu Căileanu; Criminal law – Daniel-Cosmin Sporea and Bogdan-Horațiu Suciu, coordinated by the assistant professors.cercet.dr. Cristina Nicorici and Dr. Ionela Bleahu; football – MatteoLuca Briciu, Robert Bufanu, Paul Burnaz, Alexandru Dumitru, Antonio Ionașcu, Mario Niculae, Slagen Sandu, Alexandru Trifa, Bogdan Țermure, coordinated by Mr. Prof. Gabriel Bîzoi; streetball – Ioana Gavrilescu, Maria Ierima, Roxana Janina Oprea, Cristina Timoftica, Mădălina-Elena Ursache; table tennis – Raul Salontai; chess – Paul Paraschiv. Teaching staff of the competitive subjects and doctoral students of the faculty also contributed to the preparation of the teams.

On the same occasion, the students who participated in the international competitions of mock trials in public international law and European Union law will be awarded. Thus, the students who participated in the international round of the Telders International Law Moot Court Competition, the most prestigious student competition in Europe on public international law topics, organized by the Grotius Center for International Legal Studies and Leiden University (Netherlands), will be awarded. The Timișoara Faculty of Law team, composed of Horea Ardelean, Melisa Cheșpi, Dara Nestorovici and Anamaria Petcu (second year students), took first place in the ranking of oral pleadings for the respondent and fifth place in the general ranking for the respondent. The team's training was coordinated by the vice dean lect. university dr. Sorina Doroga, miss drd. Alexandra Burdulea and Miss Dr. Andra Cenan-Glăvan, former participant in international pleading competitions.

Also, the students participating in the final stage of the Central and Eastern European Moot Competition, a prestigious student scientific competition on European Union law, organized by Juris Angliae Scientia – British Law Centre, in cooperation with the Court of Justice of the European Union, with the support of other institutions of the European Union, the Center for European Legal Studies of Cambridge University and Clifford Chance. The Timișoara Faculty of Law team, made up of Bianca Iaici, Anisia Mateia, Rareș Azamfirei and Marin Ugnenco (XNUMXrd year students), took fifth place in the overall ranking of the competition. At the same time, Miss Anisia Mateia obtained an individual pleading award. The team's training was coordinated by Prof. Dr. Raluca Bercea, vice-dean lect.univ.dr. Sorina Doroga and Miss drd. Bianca Șerb, former participant and winner of an individual pleading award in this competition.

At the same time, the event will be attended by students of the Faculty of Law of the West University of Timișoara who have participated in other national competitions this year.

The awards are offered to students by the Western University of Timișoara and the faculty's institutional partners.

The results obtained by the Faculty of Law of the Western University of Timișoara are part of the upward trend of participation in national and international student competitions in recent years. The Faculty of Law in Timișoara thanks its students and the professors who coordinated their training, for their contribution to promoting the image of the law school in Timișoara, as well as the institutional partners who support the performances of the young lawyers in Timișoara.
