2024 edition a QS World University Rankings confirms the presence of the Western University of Timișoara (UVT) among the most prestigious universities in Romania and worldwide, by ranking in the top 1201-1400 of the total ranked universities. In the 2024 edition of the QS World University Rankings, there are 13 universities from Romania. It is also worth noting that five of these are members of the University Consortium, among which is the West University of Timișoara.
Located on third position nationally in terms of academic reputation (Academic Reputation), UVT is ranked in the 601+ group worldwide, this being the most important criterion in establishing the final ranking.
UVT rector, Marilen Gabriel Pirtea: "QS World University Ranking publishes a global university ranking, known for its objectivity, transparency and consistency, being one of the nine rankings officially recognized by the Ministry of National Education, included in the calculation grid that determines the composite university educational indicator of the Romanian national metaranking. UVT is in a permanent development of its international visibility, a positioning that also gives us the good results in the 2024 edition of the QS World University Rankings."
The new edition of the ranking focused on the evaluation of 2963 universities from different locations in the world, of which 1499 universities were classified in the ranking. The methodology used in the ranking of universities is specific to all the processes carried out by QS and includes the following performance indicators:
- academic reputation – 40%,
- reputation among employers – 10%,
- student/faculty ratio – 20%,
- citations/papers ratio – 20%,
- teaching staff from abroad – 5%,
- students from abroad – 5%.
