Two events of the MERIDIAN 2023 International Festival will take place in Timișoara, more precisely a musicological symposium, held by doctoral students of the Faculty of Music and Theater from UVT (Friday, November 10, 11 a.m., in room 115 of the faculty) and a concert held by the ATEM Ensemble in collaboration with the actor Constantin Tovarniţchi (Sunday, November 12, in the "Mihai Periam" hall of the "Ion Vidu" Art High School, 19 p.m.).
The theme of the PERSONA symposium will be reflected in the three lectures:
Francisca Paidac – Sinmask of heterophony – vehicle of sacredness in the creation of the composer Ștefan Niculescu;
Laura Tătulescu – Persona as a dramatic element in the modern Romanian lied;
Irina Rădulescu – Marimba – the new "persona" of Romanian percussion music.
The theme of the UNDER THE MASK: MIXED FEELINGS concert is reflected in the choice of works, but also in the presence of the actor who will enrich the musical content.

ATEM ensemble was formed in 2013 in Timișoara, with the main initiative of promoting, in varied chamber formulas, a modern and contemporary musical repertoire. Krüger, Șerban Marcu, Gabriel Mălăncioiu, Martin Wistinghausen, Mihai Popean, Luigi Pizzaleo, Dana Cristina Probst, Mariana Ungureanu , Bernat Pont Aglada, Andrei Petrache, Iury Demetz, Irina Perneș, Mara Prună, Ariadna Ene Iliescu, Bianca Diana Popa, Rubin Szabó Bázsa Lovász, Mihnea-George Dragne, George-Ioan Pais.
XNUMXth edition of the MERIDIAN International Festival, one of the most important new music festivals in the country, will take place between November 5 and 12, 2023 under the theme "PERSONA", mainly in Bucharest, with events in Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara and Iasi.
Itinerant exhibition of singing masks, chamber concerts, contemporary dance, live electronics, performative masked ball, encore recital, instrumental theater, Nō theater, concert in the Athenaeum and concert in the bar, choral ensemble and jazz-rock – MERIDIAN festival program – PERSONA prepares an eclectic sound feast for curious ears.
