Together, a community of excellence in research and education, but also of passion for the performing arts and visual arts, this is the academic community of the Western University of Timișoara, all of whom have come together for the special annual event: the UVT Awards Gala 2023 , organized in the space of the Romanian National Opera in Timișoara.
An event dedicated to sciences, arts and sports, benefited from the contribution of some outstanding institutional partners of the Western University of Timișoara, to whom we thank, those who made it possible to organize this celebration of the academic environment in our community. We thank these long-distance partners, BCR, CTP, Linde, FLEX, Eviden, NOKIA, ATOS, Unicredit Bank, Hamilton and MARSH, along with the Timiș County Council, for trusting the UVT community of academic excellence.
The special moment of awarding the prizes received an extra artistic shine through the evolution of maestro Horațiu Mălăele, but also the talented students of the Faculty of Music and Theater of UVT, who supported two musical moments. The first piece was the composition "Nu i bai!" from the operetta "Let me sing!" by Gherase Dendrino, performed by the students Sorina Boboruta, Paula Harca, Anamaria Buturca, Mihai Cicu, Alexandru Ticula, Darius Gruita, with piano accompaniment provided by the lect. university Siviana Cîrdu, class conf. univ. Dr. Mariana Şarba. Then followed the songs "Dance of the little dragon", by Anže Rozman, and "Yellow single Line", by Gareth Mc Learnon, performed by the Romanian Flute Ensemble, whose composition includes Romina Onișor, Tabea Bebeșelea, Katica Lazar, Riana Savu , Diana Rusu, Matilda Onț, Bella Moisa, Eduard Miclea, from the class of univ. Dr. Matei Ioachimescu.
The awards given reflect the exceptional annual results of the members of the UVT academic community in the fields of sciences, arts and sports, as well as the services brought to the university by other personalities or institutions. During the gala, ten prizes were awarded, of which six prizes for different fields of sciences, arts and sports, as well as four special prizes, for the contribution to the implementation of the policies of the Western University of Timișoara and for the contribution to the increase of UVT's prestige on a national and national level international.

- Dr. Lect. Victor Ambruș (Faculty of Physics) – "Mircea ZĂGĂNESCU" Award for Natural Sciences
- Assoc Adara Blaga (Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics) – "Mihail GHERMĂNESCU" Prize for Mathematics and Computer Science
- Prof. Mona Vintilă (Faculty of Sociology and Psychology) – "Gabriela COLŢESCU" Award for Social and Political Sciences
- Dr. Lect. Sorina Doroga (Faculty of Law) – "Dumitru MAREŞ" Award for Law and Economic Sciences
- Prof. Georgiana Badea (Faculty of Letters, History and Theology) – "Eugen TODORAN" Prize for Humanities
- Assoc Matei Ioachimescu (Faculty of Music and Theatre) – "Nicolae BOBOC" Award for Arts and Sports
- Monica Brihan (Head of UVT Service) – The "Ioan CUREA" award for the activity carried out in UVT
- The winning UVT projects in the PNRR-I8 competition, carried out by the team formed by prof.dr. Oana Lobonț (Faculty of Economics and Business Administration), CSIII.dr. Gabriel Bușe (Faculty of Physics), lect. dr. Victor Ambruș (Faculty of Physics) – Award for "Innovation and Entrepreneurship"
- Emanuel Rusu (student at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science) – Student of the Year Award
- Prof. Dr. Mircea Mihăieș – "Sever BOCU" Award for Civic and Social Involvement
The rector of UVT, prof. univ. dr. Marilen Gabriel Pirtea: "The annual excellence awards highlight the essence of academic life: it is about the commitment of this university community to the values it has assumed over time. The UVT excellence awards bear the symbolism of these values: honesty, professionalism, mutual respect – important values for us, essential in the existence of UVT.
