A spectacular week is coming up at the Western University of Timișoara. We continue "Timișoara Ideas West" with two separate conferences from the "At UVT, Culture is Capital!" series.
The first conference will take place in the Aula Magna "Ioan Curea" of UVT, on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, starting at 18 p.m. and is announced to be an invitation to reflection: "On the essence of literature", together with Horia-Roman Patapievici, Ph.D. Honoris Causa of UVT, one of the best-known Romanian intellectuals.
The second conference will be held in the UVT amphitheater A01, Friday, October 14, 2022, starting at 18 p.m., and the proposed topic is a provocative one: "Communism between parallel mirrors.", with Thierry Wolton as a guest - in dialogue with Cristian Pătrășconiu. Thierry Wolton is a journalist, writer, professor at the École Supérieure de Commerce in Paris. He is particularly concerned with the history of communist regimes, the Cold War and Soviet influence in the West.
About the two events, the rector of the West University of Timișoara, Marilen Gabriel Pirtea, said: "The conferences held under the banner "At UVT, Culture is the Capital!" they are an occasion of joy for the Timisoara community. That's why we constantly try to invite special personalities and important intellectuals - who will delight us with your knowledge. We are excited to have such a full week from a cultural point of view, where top intellectuals from Romania and France prompt us to reflect."
These events are part of the Cultural Program "Timișoara 2023 - European Capital of Culture", Oameni territory, Reflectiţi station, financed by the Municipality of Timișoara through the Project Center, co-financed by the Timiș County Council.
