The West University of Timișoara inaugurated the Institute of Advanced Environmental Research - ICAM, a research institution of international standards. The project is co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund through the Competitiveness Operational Program 2014-2020 - SMIS code 106343.
Research and development laboratories were created with state-of-the-art equipment worth over 100.000 euros. Specialists in the field of biology, physics, mathematics and informatics or environmental sciences will collaborate with foreign researchers for international projects that will put Timișoara on the map of the most famous research institutes in Europe.
The specific objectives of the project:
- Creation of at least 66 research and development laboratories;
- The purchase of at least 14 CD equipment worth over 100.000 euros (VAT included);
- Purchase of at least 150 CD equipment;
- Completion of the investment and the creation of a minimum of 2500 +/- 10% mXNUMX of modern laboratories;
- Involvement in at least two international projects;
- The hiring of at least 20 new researchers and the transfer to ICAM of at least 10 researchers from UVT.
The large project was implemented with the support of non-refundable funding granted through the Competitiveness Operational Program 2014 – 2020, Priority Axis 1 – Research, technological development and innovation (CDI) in support of economic competitiveness and business development, Investment Priority 1a. "Improving research and innovation infrastructures and capacities to develop RDI excellence and promoting competence centers especially those of European interest".
The University of West Timișoara concluded a financing contract with the Ministry of European Funds, as the Management Authority for the Competitiveness Operational Program 2014-2020, and with the Ministry of Research and Innovation, as the Intermediate Body for the Competitiveness Operational Program.
The total value of the project is 37.504.626,34 lei. The non-reimbursable financing is 28.466.129 lei, of which the non-reimbursable financing from the ERDF is 24.196.209,65 lei, to which is added the one from the national budget in the amount of 4.269.919,35 lei. The project is co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund through the Competitiveness Operational Program 2014-2020.
