Maia Morgenstern, honorary director of the Jewish Studies Center launched by UVT

The West University of Timișoara launches the Center for Jewish and Israeli Studies in Timișoara, with the aim of studying and promoting the cultural interference between the Jewish and Romanian communities, given the close historical ties existing between the two in Banat. The project was initiated by professors and researchers from the Faculty of Political Sciences, Philosophy and Communication Sciences, and Maia Morgenstern, an important personality of Romanian cultural life and holder of the title Doctor Honoris Causa of UVT, will be the honorary director of this new institution .

The center will start its activity this year, and among its concrete objectives are the development and promotion of Romanian-Israeli cultural and research projects, the construction of a specialized library, the collaboration with the Jewish Community of Timisoara and everywhere, the organization of exhibitions and events with Jewish themes, as well as carrying out exchanges of experience between the academic communities of the two countries.
