On June 8, 2021, in the Aula Magna of the West University in Timișoara, Prof. univ. Dr. Vasile Popovici he was decorated with the rank of Knight of the prestigious Palmes Academiques Order, by His Excellency Laurence Auer, Ambassador of France to Romania.
This high-level distinction was given to him for his lordship's contributions over several decades to the promotion of the French language and culture in our country and in the world. The ceremony was attended by the mayor of Timișoara, the vice-chancellor of the West University of Timișoara, Mr. Dr. Mădălin Bunoiu, and colleagues from UVT.
