Rendiamo viral la lettura! Festlettura or "Young people read Italy".

On Saturday, June 12, at 16 p.m., the award ceremony for the laureates of the tenth edition of "FESTLETTURA" ("Young people read Italy"), the annual reading festival in Italian, took place online.

"FESTLETTURA" is the only festival-competition in Romania that has as protagonists the young people from the whole country, who study the Italian language, and is divided into three sections: gymnasium, high school and university. Each section proposes a series of readings after which pupils and students prepare a work adapted to their age and level of knowledge of the Italian language. This year's edition had as its theme reading adapted to online times: Rendiamo viral la lettura!

The purpose of this festival is to spread the Italian language and culture in Romania through the reading of Italian authors, to bring young people closer to reading under the guidance of their teachers, to offer them support in the development of interpretation and critical judgment. Pupils and students thus have the opportunity to get to know another social, political and cultural reality, the Italian one. He also participated in this tenth edition Francesca Simon, first-year student at the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology, Romanian-Italian section, who, following the jury's assessments, received Mention I. Here's what Francesca says about the Festlettura competition: "this academic year I had the opportunity and the pleasure to participate in the "Festlettura" contest, a contest in which I put to the test my translation skills, understanding of a literary text, as well as its interpretation. My section, the university section, had to translate a text of choice between poetry or prose and compose a critical commentary. So, I was able to discover an author I hadn't studied at school - Clemente Rebora - and I had to apply all my knowledge of literature to understand his poetics and compose an appropriate critical commentary; it was hard at first but got easier once I got to know the poet and the text. It was an unforgettable experience, even if it took me many days to complete the work, I will surely repeat it next year; I very much appreciated the seriousness with which the contest was conducted, the literary material that was chosen (a high quality one), the final award ceremony. "

As every year, the event is supported by prestigious Italian publishing houses, the Italian Embassy and the "Vito Grasso" Italian Institute of Culture in Bucharest.
