Hazelnut Valley Autumn School for Young Researchers in Ancient History and Archeology

The Western University of Timișoara, in collaboration with the Dacian Foundation and with the support of the Museum of Dacian and Roman Civilization in Deva, is holding the Fall School in Valea Alunului for Young Researchers in Ancient History and Archeology between October 9-16, 2022.

The purpose of this cultural and educational event is to offer students and young researchers a meeting and debate framework, the possibility of contact with specialists from several university and research centers. And the structure proposed by the organizers has three basic components: a package of interdisciplinary courses and workshops, supported by lecturers from several university and research centers throughout the country, a communication session of young researchers, as well as field trips study at sites, historical monuments and museums in the area.

The host of the event is the Study Center of the Dacica Foundation, and the accommodation is provided by the Dacica Guesthouse, located in the village of Alun, Boșorod commune, Hunedoara county. The location near the Dacian fortress on the top of Piatra Roșie, part of the UNESCO serial site "Dacian Fortresses from the Orăștiei Mountains" amplifies the attractiveness of the location and ennobles it.

Among the beneficiaries of the cultural-didactic event are students who are following Bachelor's, Master's and PhD programs from many study and research centers. The students are affiliated with the University of the West in Timișoara, the "Babeș-Bolyai" University in Cluj-Napoca, the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland, the Ștefan cel Mare University in Suceava, the "Ovidius" University in Constanta, the Institute of Archeology and Art History Cluj- Napoca, the National History Museum of Moldova, Chisinau and the Satu Mare County Museum.

Students enrolled in the Valea Alunului Fall School for Young Researchers in Ancient History and Archeology will listen to a series of lectures given by teaching staff and researchers from several centers, established specialists with various specializations, but who bring their full contribution to the process of interpreting archaeological discoveries. Interventions held in plenary or in an online environment follow the following structure:
