The opening event of the Regio Earth 2023 Summer School, which was hosted by the Western University of Timișoara between August 22-27, took place on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.
And in this year's edition, during the six days, the participants had the opportunity to experience construction techniques with earth in two urban gardens (the UVT Urban Garden at the university's main office and the Greenfeel urban garden in the Ronat area), under the guidance of specialists international students, together with students from various countries such as Romania, Hungary, Serbia, Croatia, Poland, Italy, France, UK, Finland, the United States and Turkey. The students took turns going through all the workshops and were able to see and work with all the techniques presented.
The trainers who coordinated the school's workshops were present at the opening conference: Alina Negru (Romania), architect, design researcher, co-founder of Recult, TERRAPia and Regio Earth, Alessandro Serra (Italy), architect, designer, co-founder of TERRAPia and Regio Earth, Zdeněk Vejpustek (Czech Republic), President of the Earth Architecture Association and Assistant Professor at the Technical University of Brno, Isabella Breda (Italy), architect, decorator, artist, specialized in interior architecture, Ana Pato (Portugal), experienced architect and earth builder, Gergely Peter Barna (Japan), design researcher, expert in traditional Japanese architecture, Adam Bihary (Hungary), architect, founder of the Association of Environmentally Conscious Builders, Dragana Kojicic (Serbia), architect, specialized in earthen architecture and Tommaso Venturini (Italy), researcher focusing on temporary shelters for the emergency relief process, combining land use and 3D printing technology.
