On Monday, December 6, 2021, the meeting of writer David DIOP with students from LIT-UVT-French took place in the Zoom virtual "room". It was one of the special meetings of the French literature circle The pleiad, organized and moderated by Conf. univ. skilled dr. Ramona Malița, devoted to contemporary literature of French expression. Students from Letters, bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs, as well as teaching staff from the Department of Romance Languages participated.
David DIOP is a writer, but also a full professor of literary theory at the University of Pau, France, with which our University is a partner in the UNITA consortium; therefore, this student activity is part of the Constellation UNITA series of projects. David DIOP is one of the prestigious writers of contemporary France, awarded several times with le Goncourt des lycées and Kourouma, whose books are translated into sixteen languages.
The author of novels Frère d'âme (appeared at Seuil 2018) and La porte du voyage sans return (Seuil, 2021), both entered in the competition of literary autumns Prix Goncourt 2018, respectively 2021, offered students answers related to the backstage of the writing of the analyzed novels and was open to new aesthetic interpretations of some symbols used in the novels. Africa and the atmosphere of the (referential) Senegalese space, the Great War and the Century of Enlightenment were the pillars of the chronotopes that were discussed in the literary cenacle held, as usual, under the auspices of the University Success Center (CRU-UVT) and the French Lectureship of UVT. In short, a successful après-midi!
