Online training sessions on horizontal themes and environmental issues discussed together with students from Serbia

Inside the project "Monitoring network Romania - Serbia for the assessment and dissemination of the impact of copper mining activities on water quality in the cross-border area" (RoS-NET2), during February 2021, 3 online training sessions were held on some horizontal themes and environmental issues respectively. The horizontal themes that were debated included the concepts of equal opportunities and non-discrimination, respectively equality between men and women. Regarding environmental issues, the concept of efficient waste management, reuse and recycling was presented and debated.

The training session in which the concept of equal opportunities and non-discrimination was discussed was implemented in Serbian and involved 24 students from Bor Technical High School and Bor Secondary School, 2 teaching staff, student volunteers and members of the project team . Students found the event to be well organized and the information discussed useful. They expressed their desire to participate in similar events, they are eager to find out more information about the city of Timișoara and about the university study programs offered at our university. We decided to organize such an event during the next month.

The training session in which the concept of efficient waste management, reuse and recycling was presented and debated, was implemented in Romanian and involved 23 students and 2 teaching staff from St. Gheorghe General School in Uzdin and student volunteers . Students participated in a competition in which they listed various methods of efficient waste management, some of which were already implemented at home and/or at school. They also stated that they obtained new and useful information and want to participate in similar events.

The training session related to the concept of gender equality involved debates attended by 21 students and 2 teaching staff from the "Sf. Gheorghe" from Uzdin, respectively student volunteers. The feedback received from the students illustrated the fact that they appreciated the way the event was organized and the information received, namely that they were happy to freely express their beliefs regarding inequality between men and women, discrimination against women in general.
