Awareness of participants in capacity-building initiatives regarding the content of the knowledge base created in the RoSNET-2 project

Inside the project "Monitoring network Romania - Serbia for the assessment and dissemination of the impact of copper mining activities on water quality in the cross-border area" (RoS-NET2) a public knowledge base was created as a system for monitoring the pollution situation in areas with mining activities in the cross-border region. Within this database there is also a section dedicated to youth training and awareness activities regarding horizontal themes and environmental issues.

This section includes the materials that are used in the training events implemented by the project. Since pre-university teachers are involved in the organized events, we organized a training session for them with the aim of promoting the knowledge base and materials that can be used to implement similar events with students in the schools where they work.

17 teachers participated in this event, 14 working in schools in Romania and 3 in schools in Serbia. The project in which the knowledge base was developed was presented, the organization of the database was illustrated and its content was discussed. Since the training session was also attended by teachers who were involved in the implementation of awareness events for students, they shared the experience gained during the events and the reactions of the students after the event, respectively they urged the other teachers to implement extracurricular activities for promoting horizontal principles and environmental issues. Also, being participating teachers from both Romania and Serbia, there was also an exchange of ideas and good practices related to extracurricular activities with students were shared.

The training session ended with the promise of the project team to continue the activities to raise awareness among young people in the issues addressed in the project even after its completion.
