UVT, partner in the consortium that will develop in Timișoara the future regional campus for dual education

The Ministry of Education published yesterday the list of projects of future campuses for dual education, co-financed by PNRR. Although the target initially assumed through the PNRR co-financing framework was located at the level of 10 eligible regional consortia, the Ministry of Education decided that all 29 projects to be declared eligible, after the qualitative assessment. Minister Ligia Deca stated that the Government and the Ministry of Education decided to try to identify sources of funding to be able to support all these applications or as many of them as possible, at the end of the government meeting yesterday, June 22.

"Practically, the target that we have assumed by completing this investment is that in the year 2025-2026 up to 40% of the students will be enrolled on a dual route", stated Ligia Deca, at the end of the government meeting.

Timișoara submitted the project entitled "Complete integrated route for dual education in the Western Region through the development and operationalization of the Regional Consortium for Dual Education VEST Timișoara", this being scored with 89 points, to be implemented during the next four years.

UVT rector, Marilen Gabriel Pirtea: "The Timișoara community as a whole will benefit from the realization of this infrastructure intended for dual education. The coagulation of energies from universities, administration, the school network and economic operators, totaling 31 partners, shows the maturation of a Timisoara public ecosystem in which education for the future is recognized as a stake of prime importance. In four years, Timișoara will also be the most important regional center of dual education, a strategic objective that will be achieved through the substantial contribution that the community brings to our university center. The realization of the consortium and the financing of this project represents an important step in the development of dual education in the region and strengthens the position of UVT in promoting the partnership with the economic environment and the local administration."

The Western University of Timișoara is a partner in the project, and will ensure, in partnership with the other two associated Timișoara universities, a co-financing of 1,2 million euros, while the Timișoara City Council will co-finance the project with 5,8 million euros, and the companies from the consortium will contribute 1,7 million euros. The total amount of financing through PNRR, together with local co-financing, amounting to 27 million euros, will cover the construction of the campus (with a site located on Calea Buziașului in Timișoara), but also the payment of scholarships for pupils and students. The project includes integrated educational spaces, specialized practice workshops, accommodation spaces, campus management area, library area, gym, dining area, Auditorium area.

I am part of the "Regional Consortium for Dual Education West Timișoara" in addition to the three universities, both the Timișoara City Hall, the School Inspectorate, seven Timișoara high schools, 16 companies, as well as three business associations.
