UVT, on the stage of the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome

The West University of Timișoara is pleased to announce a future remarkable presence on the stage of the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome. Flutist Matei Ioachimescu and The Romanian Flute Ensemble will perform an extraordinary concert at the PROPATRIA Festival Gala in Rome, Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 20 p.m.

One of the most acclaimed flautists of the moment, Matei Ioachimescu, will present the Italian public with a spectacular program, built under the sign of virtuosity and magical sound worlds. Alongside Matei Ioachimescu will be The Romanian Flute Ensemble, made up of Tabea Bebeșelea, Katica Lázár, Alexandra Mahu, Bella Moisa, Eduard Miclea and Romina Onișor, all students of the Faculty of Music and Theater in Timișoara, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. . Matei Ioachimescu. 

Romanian Flute Ensemble is an ensemble that brings to the fore the entire family of modern flutes, from the bass flute to the piculina. The members of the ensemble represent the new Romanian wave of exceptional flautists, aligned to Western European standards of interpretation and thinking. Romanian Flute Ensemble managed in a very short time to attract the attention of the public in Romania and abroad, through the high artistic level and contagious enthusiasm with which it presents various programs, from baroque music to first auditions of contemporary Romanian composers. A special moment of this concert will be the first audition of the song "Suflolipicius" by the composer Gabriel Mălăncioiu, who is also a teacher at the Faculty of Music and Theater in Timișoara.

The PROPATRIA 2023 Gala is an event organized by the PROPATRIA Cultural Association and is part of the festival of the same name. The purpose of the event is to promote young Romanian values ​​on the international stage.

The flautist Matei Ioachimescu maintains an impressive concert activity, he is recognized for the interpretations of the baroque and modern repertoire, but also for cross-over projects. He is a graduate of the University of Music in Vienna, the city where he settled, he is the laureate of several awards and scholarships (Thyll-Dürr or Yehudi Menuhin Foundation) and collaborates with some of the most interesting musicians in Europe, on important stages such as Konzerthaus Wien, Romanian Athenaeum, Conservatorio Santa Cecilia, Budapest Music Center or Suntory Hall. For his intense activity and the high quality of the supported projects, he was awarded the title of "Ambassador of Integration" in 2013 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Austria. Since 2020, Matei Ioachimescu has been teaching the flute at the Faculty of Music and Theater in Timișoara.
