2023 edition a QS World University Rankings confirms the presence of UVT among the most prestigious universities in Romania and worldwide, by ranking in the top 1201-1400 of the total ranked universities, being located among the first 85% of the universities included in the ranking. In the 2023 edition of the QS World University Rankings, there are 13 universities from Romania, two being ranked in the 1001-1200 zone, and the other 11 in the 1201-1400 zone. Five of the universities, including the West University of Timișoara, are members of the University Consortium.
This ranking concerned the evaluation of 2464 universities from different locations around the world, of which 1422 universities were classified in the ranking. The methodology used in the ranking of universities is specific to all the processes carried out by QS and includes the following performance indicators:
- academic reputation – 40%,
- reputation among employers – 10%,
- student/faculty ratio – 20%,
- citations/papers ratio – 20%,
- teaching staff from abroad – 5%,
- students from abroad – 5%.
QS World University Ranking publishes a global university ranking, known for objectivity, transparency and consistency, being one of the 9 rankings officially recognized by the Ministry of National Education, by including its results in the national meta-ranking.
