We are pleased to invite you to participate Monday, December 18, 2023, starting at 10 a.m., at the event during which the official end of the project will be marked: "The Institute of Advanced Environmental Research - ICAM", which benefited from non-refundable funding in the amount of 28.466.129 lei. The event will take place at the ICAM headquarters (Timișoara, str. Oituz no. 4C – Popa Șapcă).
On behalf of UVT, the rector of the West University of Timișoara, prof. univ. dr. Marilen Gabriel Pirtea, UVT vice-chancellors, university associate. Dr. Mădălin Bunoiu and Prof. Univ. Dr. Alin Sava, general director of UVT, Mr. Georgescu Laurențiu, project manager and director of ICAM, Vlad Petcu, director of ICAM, prof.univ.dr. Viorel Negru, together with teachers, students, researchers and guests.
As part of the project, the investment in the main ICAM building was made, with a total value of 19.132.674,75 lei, and the technology and equipment of the laboratories and experimental spaces, with a purchase value of 18.132.214,21 lei.

About the Institute for Advanced Environmental Research - ICAM
The Western University of Timișoara, as Beneficiary, announces the inauguration of the Institute for Advanced Environmental Research - ICAM, an institute created within the project "INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH - ICAM", SMIS CODE 106343.
The project was implemented with the support of non-reimbursable funding granted through the Competitiveness Operational Program 2014 – 2020, Priority Axis 1 – Research, technological development and innovation (CDI) in support of economic competitiveness and business development, Investment Priority 1a. "Improving research and innovation infrastructures and capacities to develop RDI excellence and promoting competence centers especially those of European interest".
The general objective of the proposed investment was to create an institute for advanced environmental research, by completing its construction and equipping it accordingly, so as to ensure an excellent research infrastructure at international standards.
The specific objectives of the project were:
- Creation of at least 66 research and development laboratories;
- The purchase of at least 14 CD equipment worth over 100.000 euros (VAT included);
- Purchase of at least 150 CD equipment;
- Completion of the investment and the creation of a minimum of 2500 +/- 10% mXNUMX of modern laboratories;
- Involvement in at least two international projects;
- The hiring of at least 20 new researchers and the transfer to ICAM of at least 10 researchers from UVT.
The Western University of Timișoara concluded a financing contract with the Ministry of European Funds, as the Management Authority for the Competitiveness Operational Program 2014-2020, and with the Ministry of Research and Innovation, as the Intermediate Body for the Competitiveness Operational Program. The project was co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund through the Competitiveness Operational Program 2014-2020.
