New events under the banner "Remember Enescu": Alexandru Tomescu and Sînziana Mircea perform in Vienna and Budapest

The last two events under the banner "Remember Enescu", in which the violinist Alexandru Tomescu and the pianist Sînziana Mircea perform, are organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute and the Western University of Timișoara, together with the "Remember Enescu" Cultural Foundation.

Thus, on November 27, starting at 19 p.m., the "Remember Enescu" classical music concert will take place at ICR Vienna, and the next day, on November 28, also at 19 p.m., the concert will take place at the Theater Budapest National Dance Festival (for both events public access will be free, subject to availability).

"Vienna is one of the cultural destinations where classical music is truly at home and I am very happy that together with the pianist Sînziana Mircea we will bring to the public the most beautiful musical creations of George Enescu and universal composers. This European tour, which is part of the Timișoara 2023 – European Capital of Culture program, is a very good opportunity to promote national values, to promote Romania as a top cultural destination, but also Timișoara, in particular, which is a real city of culture", declares Alexandru Tomescu-Violonist.

"I am happy to greet him in Vienna, at the end of the events dedicated to Romania's National Day, in which this year the orchestral and choral ensemble of the Romanian National Opera, maestro Alexandru Tomescu, is participating. He is one of the great European violinists who finds his illustrious place and role, along with well-deserved public recognition, every time in the Austrian capital, one of the great musical metropolises of the world. His Majesty's recital, together with the pianist Sînziana Mircea, at ICR Vienna, is the result of an extensive and sustained collaboration between the Embassy of Romania in Austria, ICR Vienna and the West University of Timișoara, placed under the astral sign of the European Cultural Capital, Timișoara 2023, and of the close historical ties between our countries, no matter how sometimes they are put to the test", declares Emil Hurezeanu, Romania's Ambassador to Austria.

"Promoting Romanian culture, especially in the year when Timișoara is the European capital of culture, brings people together, through the power of music and art, regardless of where they live. The Western University of Timișoara is an active part of this project, for which informing and educating the public in the cultural area is a continuous endeavor. We are honored that together with our partners, the Embassy of Romania in Austria, with Mr. Ambassador Emil Hurezeanu, but also with the Romanian Cultural Institute, we can celebrate Romania's National Day with a real musical royal, supported by two of the most valuable Romanian artists, world champion, violinist Alexandru Tomescu and pianist Sînziana Mircea", says university professor Dr. Marilen Gabriel Pirtea, rector of the Western University of Timișoara.

The project is produced by the "Remember Enescu" Cultural Foundation, is part of the national cultural program "Timișoara - European Capital of Culture in 2023" and is financed by the OVERBORDER CULTURE+ program, run by the Timiș County Culture and Art Center, with allocated amounts from the state budget, through the budget of the Ministry of Culture.
