The West University of Timișoara is in the university hierarchy QS European University Rankings, the 2024 edition, which is the first to cover the entire European continent. This positioning confirms the presence of UVT among the most prestigious universities in Romania and at the European level, by ranking on the 487th position among the ranked universities. In the 2024 edition of the QS Europe University Rankings, there are 17 universities from Romania. It should be noted that five of these are members of the Universitaria Consortium.

UVT is in the third position at the national level, according to the criterion of academic reputation (Academic Reputation), being ranked 251+ at the European level for this criterion, which is also the most important criterion in establishing the final hierarchy. Taking all indicators into account, UVT ranks sixth nationally and 66th in Eastern Europe.

This ranking concerned the evaluation of 688 universities from all over Europe, 133 if we limit ourselves only to the east of the continent. The methodology used in the ranking of universities is specific to all the processes carried out by QS and includes the following performance indicators: academic reputation – 40%, reputation among employers – 10%, student/faculty ratio – 20%, citations/works ratio – 20 %, teachers from abroad - 5%, students from abroad - 5%.
