The Western University of Timișoara joins the Ad Astra Association, supporting it in its endeavor to propose a National Pact for Research. For too long, research has been placed at the bottom of the list of national priorities, although the competitiveness of any country is strongly dependent on the existence of sustained support for the development of the research-development-innovation sector. It is really necessary for the field of research to become a strategic priority for Romania, if we do not want to remain a simple exporter of valuable people, who find their consecration in another country.

Also, UVT supports the idea that research support should take place under the conditions of the implementation of concrete, stimulating measures, so that such a pact does not remain only at a declarative level. We envisage the transparent evaluation of existing research structures and institutes, the granting of additional funding based exclusively on excellence, the gradual increase of budget allocations for research-development-innovation, the introduction of multi-annual funding for national research competitions.

In a sustainable, predictable and financially supported national system of CDI at the level of the performing European economies, UVT can fulfill its mission to ensure through its graduates the human resource needed for this sector, so important for the national economy.
