The Faculty of Letters, History and Theology within UVT, with the support of the Department for Relations with the Pre-university Environment, organized the debate on the topic The teaching career: opportunities and challenges, on November 26, 2020, in online format.

Teaching staff from our university, as well as representatives of school inspectorates from Timiș, Hunedoara and Mehedinți counties participated in the debate, as follows:

            Among the topics discussed were the promotion among LIT students, by school inspectors and teaching staff from schools, of the teaching career in the pre-university environment, through information campaigns in which beginning teachers are also involved (February - March 2021), but also the development at the ISJ Timiș level of a guide for beginning teachers, to be made available to LIT students in their final years, in order to guide them towards a teaching career. Also, together with the DPPD, the opportunity to apply additional criteria to the selection of students who follow the pedagogical modules, in order to start their teaching career, was discussed.

Other topics touched on during the debate were the organization by LIT teaching staff, in collaboration with CCD/ ISJ, of some communication courses/workshops in the classroom, the proposal by a LIT teaching staff of a transversal complementary discipline on communication topics in the classroom, the provision of support (seminars/workshops) by LIT teaching staff to Romanian language teachers from the pre-university environment in order to clarify, acquire and correctly apply the up-to-date grammar rules, the post-university program Professor XXI, organized by LIT, addressed to pre-university teaching staff specializing in Romanian, Latin, Modern Languages, the organization of sections intended for pre-university teaching staff within the LIT conferences, the organization of sections intended for LIT students within the conferences held in the environment pre-university and the organization of invited conferences in the pre-university environment, with speakers from LIT teaching staff, according to the model of UVT conferences.

The dialogue also brought to the fore the collaboration between LIT teaching staff and specialized school inspectors/pre-university teaching staff in order to coordinate bachelor's theses and dissertations on relevant topics in the teaching of specializations managed by LIT, the promotion of the LIT educational offer in the form of "Student for a week at LIT", in online format (starting from March 2021), supplementing students' pedagogical practice internships with job shadowing periods and engaging LIT students in volunteer actions in schools (organization of extracurricular activities, educational projects, organization of school competitions).
