The academic community of the Western University of Timișoara marked with solidarity, on November 11, the special public event of the completion of a century since the establishment of the Politehnica University of Timișoara, being honored to publicly convey congratulations to the academic community of UPT, together with an exhortation collegial and professional towards new exceptional performances of the centenary university institution, performances with which UPT became known over time and which became important for Timișoara to be increasingly better represented on the European map of higher education.
In his message addressed to the Politehnica University of Timișoara, the rector of UVT, prof. Dr. Marilen Gabriel Pirtea, emphasized:
"One hundred years means little on a historical scale, but the last one hundred years, in which the Politehnica University of Timișoara was a living part of Timișoara education, are the very years of the modern history of our city. These one hundred years are certainly of inestimable value for the Timișoara community, they represent a time when the polytechnic graduates also participated in building the Central European status of Timișoara, through their training in key fields of engineering and new technical sciences. The Timișoara polytechnics have made an essential contribution to what Timișoara is today, being present in various fields of the intellectual, scientific and administrative life of the city, but also from the diaspora, from all cardinal points where they were "ambassadors" of the Timișoara polytechnic school, through the concerns their professional and through their scientific and entrepreneurial excellence. UPT researchers and university students, but also polytechnic students and graduates, are today celebrating the centenary of the establishment of this prestigious educational and research institution, and they are joined with joy, of course, by all Timisoara university students, both those from the West University of Timișoara, as well as those from the other two traditional universities of Timișoara, which are allies from this year in a project of the future, dedicated primarily to our city, the new Timișoara University Alliance.
